Mary Ruth Polt, age 97, of Rochester, MN, died at Samaritan Bethany May 3, 2020 of natural causes.

Mary "Ruth" was born July 2, 1922 in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of Thomas and Sallie (Bryant) Burns. Ruth Graduated in 1940 from Rainelle High School in Rainelle, WV. She received a diploma from Marion College in Marion, WV, in 1941. She was united in marriage to Francis J. Polt in Nashville, TN. The couple lived in Syracuse, Poughkeepsie, and Binghamton, NY before settling in Rochester in 1956.

Ruth was a homemaker until she began her 20-year career in the accounting dept at IBM, retiring in 1992. Ruth lived with her daughter Patty in Rochester, and she loved spending time with her whole family.

She is survived by her son, Thomas (Beverly) of Rochester, MN; grandsons: Dustin (Tabitha) Manguson and their children: Aiden, Addison, Alexandra, and William of Onalaska, WI, Ryan (Carrie) Manguson and their children: Morgan, Paige, and Noah of Rochester, MN, Michael (Mary Hiles) Polt of Minneapolis, MN, and Gregory (Kenzie Hoadley) and their child Kynlee Kay Polt;

Preceded in death by her husband, Francis; daughter, Patricia; and daughter and son-in-law: Frances A. and Addison J. Bryant.

Private family interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. Due to current circumstances, a memorial mass will be held at a later date.
