Mary Lou Kuisle, 93, of Rochester, died Saturday (July 21, 2012) at Madonna Towers in Rochester, Minnesota surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Mary Louise Manahan on September 21, 1918 in Elmira Township and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1936. She worked as a rural school teacher until 1943, and then as a secretary at the Kahler School of Nursing. In 1946, she met Edward A. Kuisle who had just returned from WWII in the Phillipines. They were married June 3, 1946 at St. Mary's Church in Chatfield.
Edward and Mary Lou farmed together south of Rochester, raising a family of eleven children and sharing their love for each other with their extended family, neighbors, and friends. Mary Lou spent her later years of life enjoying other people, sharing memories and telling stories of her early life to her to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known for her elegant entertaining and gentle sense of humor.
She is survived by, children Edward (Pam), Matthew (Margy), Rita (David) Griffin, Joe (Judy), Karen (Harry) Jenkins, and Marty all of Rochester and Tim (Karla) of Springfield, MN, son-in-law Jim Glatzmaier, daughters-in-law Jeanne Kuisle and Kellie Kuisle, 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille (Bob) Kuhl, and brother Larry Manahan and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A., daughter Patricia (Jim) Glatzmaier, sons Walter, Gerald, Leo, and grandson Eddie Kuisle. She is also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
The visitation will be at Macken Funeral Home in the original main building (1105 12 th Street SE) Tuesday, July 24 from 5-8 pm and funeral Mass and burial at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Simpson on Wednesday, July 25 at 10:30 AM.
The Kuisle family would like to thank the staff of Madonna Towers and Mayo Hospice for their many kindnesses and expert, professional care as she transitioned to her new life in heaven.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. Bridget's Catholic Church or Lourdes High School.
