Mary Magdalene Hanson, 60, of Rochester, MN passed away on October 19, 2026, at her home.

Born Mary Magdalene Hockert on February 4, 1966, in Rochester MN, Mary spent most of her life in Rochester. Mary attended grade school and Jr. High at St. Pius X and attended Lourdes Highschool, later graduating from Rochester John Marshall Highschool in 1985. Mary married Dennis Hanson on January 14, 1995, and later they moved to Chatfield MN. Mary returned to Rochester, MN following the passing of her husband Dennis. Mary resided in a Robert E. Miller (REM) home and worked at the Ability Building Community (ABC) in Rochester for much of her adult life.

Mary was an extraordinarily kindhearted person, filled with love and cheerfulness. She brought joy and smiles to everyone around her with her playful personality. Mary enjoyed art, music and spending time with her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her daughter Angel Audrey Marie Hanson of Rochester, MN. Sister Loyola Colebeck (Ken Heppelmann), Brothers John Hockert (Marcia) and Joseph Hockert (Heather) of Rochester, MN. Brother James Opheim- Hockert (Mary) of Mankato, MN and sister Maureen Schaffer (Gregory) of Lee’s Summit, MO. She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Loyola Hockert, brother Paul Hockert and husband Dennis Hanson.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 29th, 2026, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at 10:00 AM.

The family requests that memorial gifts be designated for Robert E. Miller (REM) homes in Rochester, MN.
