Mary Lou Jensen passed with peace and grace at the age of 94 with family at her side on Saturday, October 1. During the last days of her illness she was very lovingly and attentively cared for at the Seasons Hospice house. Preceded in death by her husband Charles, a step-son, Jerry, her parents, two sisters, one brother and her first husband, Stanley. She is survived by two daughters, Cherril (Rich) of Minneapolis, Michelle (Brad) of Fridley, daughter-in-law Mary (Dick) and one sister Peggy, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Mary Lou was born in Eveleth, MN and grew up on the range. She attended several colleges in various states. She earned her Master's Degree at the University of Wisconsin and began teaching at the college level in Rochester. She met and married Charles Jensen, a native of Rochester, in 1962. She became an exquisite homemaker and mother of two teenagers, as she continued teaching business machines and secretarial practices at Rochester Junior College. She was active in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was professed into the Secular Franciscans, Third Order, in 1956, where she enjoyed many leadership roles. She always exhibited a constant trustworthiness, grace and humility. She and Chuck grew in their faith filled life together. They lived in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi: "Blessed are you for you shall inherit the kingdom of God."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Friday, October 7, at 11:00 AM. With Rev. Msgr. Thomas Cook officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held at Madonna Towers in Rochester, MN on Thursday, October 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The Rosary will be prayed, at 4:15 pm, during the visitation on Thursday. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the Mass on Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Madonna Towers, her dedicated physician, Dr. Quirindongo of the Mayo Clinic, as well as the staff of Seasons Hospice. Their love and support was exceptional.
If you wish to make a memorial donation it will be graciously received and sent to charities and organizations close to Mary Lou's heart.
