Marlene Rae "Book" Wondrow, 78, passed on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Atrium Hospital Pineville in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was with her loving and caring family and in the thoughts and prayers of friends.

Born September 13, 1947, in Rochester, Minnesota, she was the daughter of George and Linne Book. Following graduation from John Marshall High School in 1965, she attended Rochester Community College and began her career in cosmetics. In 1982, her family moved to the Hembstead neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Bernard Wondrow, daughter Allyson Rae (Joe) Pecarro and grandson Guy Joseph Pecarro of Charlotte, North Carolina. Also, sisters Susan (Ken) Spong, Karen Brehmer, Annette (Jeff) Leonard of Minnesota, and brother John (Monique) Book of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bonnie (Gordon) Kappedal and nephew Josh Leonard.

She thoroughly enjoyed the customer relationships with her work and the wonderful friendships with friends and neighbors in the Hembstead neighborhood and cherished memories that will last forever.

Marlene made a cherished and great hobby in transforming her lawn into an "arboretum like" environment with ponds and waterfalls, moss gardens and canopy walkways. This continuing endeavor was extremely satisfying throughout her life.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2026 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery in Oronoco, Minnesota.
