On Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, Marlene Love was called home to be with the Lord for all eternity.
She was born Dec. 17, 1933, to Edwin and Esther Fernholz in Arcadia, Wis. She attended St. Aloysius Elementary School and Arcadia High School. After high school graduation, she graduated from Winona State University. Marlene taught school in Wayzata and in San Bernardino, Calif. In 1960, she and her husband moved to Rochester where she taught at Ben Franklin and Washington Elementary schools from 1960 to 1993 when she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Charles "Chuck" Love; sisters, Marge Tulius, LaVon Benusa and Rebecca Wood; brothers, Ed Fernholz and James Fernholz; nieces, nephews; and brothers-in-law.
A memoral service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday January 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with Chaplain David Byrne officiating. A Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Her body has been bequested to the Mayo Foundation.
Memorials may be sent to Ronald McDonald House, Channel One or charity of donor's choice.
Marlene loved life, her family and friends, her students and, most of all, her loving husband, Chuck.
