Marjorie "Marge" Ollhoff, age 88 of Rochester passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Care.
Born Marjorie Julia King on December 12, 1924 in Rochester to Albert and Bertha King, she grew up in Rochester and attended Central High School. On September 5, 1943 she married William Ollhoff at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester. For a brief time she joined her husband at the US Army base in Yuma, AZ. The couple then resided in Rochester until 1983, when they retired and built their dream home on acreage in Kellogg, MN. The couple returned to Rochester in later years to be closer to their family. Marge worked as a secretary for both the Mayo Clinic and Rochester Central Lutheran School. She was a longstanding member of the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League and Trinity Lutheran Quilters. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and gardening, especially flowers. She loved wildlife and the outdoors, particularly taking photos of various birds. She was passionate about Native American history, culture and artwork.
Marge is survived by her husband of 70 years, William "Bill" of Rochester, her children, Carol (Jeff) Sahagun of Oroville, CA, Kathryn "Kathy" White of Rochester, William "Bill" (Melanie) Ollhoff of Rochester, James "Jim" (Laurie) Ollhoff of Farmington, MN, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Marilyn "Mary" Barton, and her sister Lucille Gottschalk.
The funeral service for Marge will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2:00PM at Trinity Lutheran Church (222 6 th Ave SW Rochester) with Pastor Joel Haak officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Rochester Central Lutheran School.
