MARILYNN "TOOTIE" BROWN
Born July 22, 1934 – Died December 21, 2024, at age 90 years and 6 months.
Marilynn "Tootie" Brown died peacefully at Season's Hospice on December 21, 2024. She was surrounded by loving family and a serene, peaceful environment.
Marilynn was born on July 22, 1934, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She lived most of her life in Rochester, growing up with her sister and two brothers, and attended Rochester High School.
Marilynn had a robust and lengthy career in the food services industry. She worked at Townhouse, Bridgeman's and Charlie's for most of her life, she even owned her own restaurant for a while. She enjoyed her time in these roles, chatting with patrons and keeping customers happy.
She was married to Lyle Laures on May 10, 1952, in Kasson, Minnesota. Lyle and Marilynn raised five children until Lyle's death in 1978.
On November 23, 1980, she married Darrell Brown and gained 4 bonus children.
Marilynn was very fond of Suduko and loved gardening, camping and traveling. She spent her final years at Root River Estates in Stewartville, Minnesota where she enjoyed spending time with her neighbors and friends, drinking coffee and enjoying each other's company.
She is survived by her husband Darrell; siblings: Carol Crosby, Charles (Joanne) Breski; her children Leonard (Sharon) Laures, Jerry (Julie) Laures, Kathryn (Paul) Schwartz, Jolene (Richard) Flicker; stepchildren Larry (Sue) Brown, Scott (friend Colleen) Brown, Patty (Ron) Wehrs, Holly (Barry) Hentz; as well as 14 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 21 step-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and 5 great great step-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Lyle Laures, daughter Lonnie Laures, son Daniel Laures, grandson Matthew Flicker, brother Gene Breski, and her parents.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2024, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Grandview Memorial Gardens, in Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Season's Hospice or the Cancer Telethon.
