Margit Joan Knutson, 83, of Rochester, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018, at Shorewood Reflections in Rochester.

She was born September 17, 1935 to Gilbert and Molly (Anderson) Lee. Margit grew up in Houston, Minnesota and graduated from Houston High School.

Margit married Orrin L. Knutson on June 2, 1956. She worked side-by-side with Orrin on their dairy farm for over thirty years until they retired in 1992. Orrin passed away in January of 2009.

Margit is survived by her son, Steve (Deb) Knutson of Chippewa Falls, Wisc; daughters, Shelly Knutson (Kevin Carey), and Amy (Darren) Tieder of Rochester, Minn; grandchildren, Ryan, Dan, Karyn and Samantha; and great-grandchildren, Cora, Jaxon, Hadley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Orrin.

Orrin and Margit attended Zumbro Lutheran Church regularly and Margit was very active in the women's circles and committees, church bazaar and enjoyed the fellowship of church greatly.  Margit enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting and spending time with her children and their families.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. The funeral service for Margit will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27th at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 Third Avenue SW, Rochester, with Rev. Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be directed to the family. These funds will be used for charitable purposes that include research and care for those suffering from Alzheimer's dementia and to the Mayo Hospice Program.
