Margaret Ann Wampach, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, passed away on May 2, 2024 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys Hospital.
Margaret was born on January 8, 1941, in Spring Valley, MN, Margaret was the daughter of Freddie and Alma (Broadwater) Kappers. She attended Spring Valley schools and began her career at Leroy Produce, where she honed her strong work ethic. Her love for travel led her to Glen's Motor Coach before she ultimately found her place at IBM as an inspector. Margaret was an avid cross-stitcher and baker, known for her delicious treats that she happily shared with family and friends. She found solace in fishing and the pages of her favorite books, and her love for travel took her to cherished destinations, particularly Branson, MO, and Mackinac Island. Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering strength, independence, and boundless love for others. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was mowing a neighbor's lawn or shoveling snow from a friend's driveway. Her hardworking nature was matched only by her kind heart and generous spirit.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bernard "Bernie"; children, Denise Johnson, Debbie Rice, Tom Wampach, Jennifer Wampach, Brett (Beth) Backus, Alan (Josephine) Backus and Jodi Mullenbach; grandchildren, Caitlynn DeRaad, Teagan Wampach, Ryan Backus, Karli McElory, Derek Backus, Paige Backus, Gretchen Backus, Justin Bond, Jordan Green, Megan Backus and Sonya Dolan; great-grandchildren, William DeRaad, William and Sara Backus, Mia and James McElory, Ava Backus, Hayley Backus, Gretta and Cullen Knutson, Addison Bond, Isadore, Huxley, Marlowe and Sunny Green, Rigel Dolan and by her sister, Jan Evenson. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Alma; sister, Evelyn Read and great-granddaughters, Adelaide, Olive, Sailor and Clementine.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12 th St. SE, Rochester.
