Margaret Elizabeth Frie died Monday March 17 ^th after a short illness.  She was 95 years old.

Margaret was born on October 3 ^rd , 1918 in Winona MN to George and Sarah (Flynn) McDonald.  She married Roland Frie in 1937 and they raised their family in Winona and later in Rochester.  Margaret worked her entire life while raising five children.  She eventually went to work at the Mayo Medical Library and retired after 13 years there.  She then opened a Mother's Work Maternity store in Rochester and later an Irish import shop in Rochester's Galleria.

Margaret loved her family dearly and was known to friends for giving her homemade baked goods and her -home canned preserves.  Her legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter.

She is survived by her brother, William (Jean) McDonald, of San Antonio, TX, her children Judith Long of Eagle Lake, ME, William (Kathryn) Frie of Rochester, MN, Margaret "Peggy" (Lyman) Roeder of International Falls and Chatfield, MN, and James Frie of San Tan Valley, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Susan McCarthy, son-in-law Richard (Judy) Long, daughter-in-law Annette (James) Frie, her parents and siblings George, Todd, James, John, Mary (Wilma) and Bobby.

A service in celebration of her life will be held at River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22 ^nd at 1:00pm.  The visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm with a luncheon to follow the graveside service.  Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
