Louis Herbert Reiter, 89, of Elgin, MN passed away October 9, 2018.

Louis was born April 2, 1929 in Potsdam, MN to Louis and Emma (Siem) Reiter. Louis spent his entire life farming in the Elgin area. On November 25, 1952, he married Rosemary T. Dunagan at St. John's Church in Rochester.

Louis was actively involved in his township government as the supervisor for 54 years. He was a 4H leader for many decades. He was active in the Sons of American Legion. He thoroughly enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing and card playing. He also loved spending time with his large family and attending their many activities.

Louis is survived by his ten children, Mary (Ken) Borst of Chatfield, MN, Chris (Mary Ellen) Reiter of Elgin, MN, Sharon (Kent) Cordingly of Thermopolis, WY, Bill (Kathy) Reiter of Elgin, MN, Craig (Cathy) Reiter of Elgin, MN, John (Kathy) Reiter of Elgin, MN, Jerry (Becky) Reiter of New London, MN, Luann (Larry) Borst of Rochester, MN, Joe (Lynn) Reiter of Wilmar, MN, and Bob (Cheryl) Reiter of Florence, SD; 33 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Rosemary.

The family prefers that memorials be sent to ALS Foundation.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Rev. James Seitz officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
