Loras A.
Bonin
July 1, 1954 – January 16, 2015
The Funeral Service for Loras A. Bonin will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be 5:00pm – 8:00pm Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial of ashes will be on the family plot in Ryan Iowa at a later date.
Loras, 60, was born in Minneapolis on Thursday July 1, 1954. On Friday January 16, 2015 he lost his battle with cancer.
The #1 song on the day Loras was born was "Little Things Mean A Lot", by Kitty Kallen. In the too brief span of his life he did so much for so many, without regard for recognition or reward. He will be missed everyday by his friends and others whom he helped in a humble, Christ-like manner.
Loras graduated from Mayo High School in 1972. He served for four years as a US Navy Corpsman. He worked as a lab technician, carpenter, and truck driver. Loras loved camping, fishing, and attending Twins and Viking's games.
He is survived by his mother Clara M. Bonin, much older sister Susanne (Tom) St. George and slightly older brother Mark Bonin, and his four step-children whom he loved dearly. He had many nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and great-nephews who were loved beyond words. He was the best brother in the world.
Loras was preceded in death by his father Art, his sister Mary Claire and his grandparents.
