Lora L. Hulsizer – Rochester
Lora Lee Lau, 64, of Rochester, MN, died Friday, October 13 th , 2023, at Methodist Hospital.
Lora was born April 12, 1959, in Northfield, MN to Joyce and Woodrow Lau. Robert (Bob) Wear became her loving stepfather in August 1965. She graduated from Mayo High School in 1978. On June 8 th , 1984, she married Steven Hulsizer at Church of the Savior. They made their home in Rochester.
Lora had various jobs throughout her life, but you may remember her greeting you at McDonald's or Burger King. She always loved collecting kid prizes for her little sister and nieces and nephews. Lora's creative side can be seen in the many paint-by-number creations and latch hook rugs. Lora enjoyed spending time with her husband going to movies, out to dinner and their favorite vacation was a trip to San Diego. Every spring Lora and Steven were very excited for the new season of the MN Twins, they always found a way to make it to the stadium to enjoy a game in person. They traveled to watch NASCAR races both in Daytona and Kansas City, another favorite pastime.
Lora was the mom to many furry friends. They had many guinea pigs, birds, cats and dogs over the years. She is survived by her best friend Buster who was her loyal companion. She would spend many hours outside with him playing catch.
She is preceded in death by her fathers, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her husband, mother, siblings: Steve (Lana) Lau, Julie Lau, Diane (Keith) Theobald, Dave Wear, Kenny (Carol) Wear, Jim Wear, Denise Yahnke and sister/aunt Terri Henwood. Along with many other in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Lora had many struggles through the years, but her stubbornness and determination allowed her to conquer them. Unfortunately, she wasn't more stubborn than the infection that took her life.
The memorial service will be held on October 24, 2023 at 11am, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
