Obituary

Lloyd A. Vehrenkamp, 92, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, January 25, 2018.  Lloyd died of complications from Parkinson's and Lewy body diseases.  He participated in a long-term study with the Mayo Clinic to help others with these afflictions.  Lloyd was born on December 20, 1925 on the family farm in Chatfield, MN.  He served his country in the Korean War where he received the Bronze Star.  He met his wife of sixty years Carol Peters in Chatfield and they married on November 27, 1957.  They moved to Rochester where Lloyd had a lengthy career with IBM and they raised their three children.  He retired in 1987 to enjoy his family and hobbies full time.  Lloyd enjoyed the outdoors and was often found tending his garden, sitting by a fire in his backyard, hunting or fishing.  He was a skilled woodworker and created many treasures for family and friends.  Lloyd volunteered with Family Promise through his church.  He enjoyed photography and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Julie (Jim) Berryhill of Colorado, sons, Steve (Mary) of Rochester, and Gary (Linda); and two grandchildren, Carolyn and Jack of Colorado.  He is also survived by his brother, Melvin (Darlene) of Rochester; his brother-in-law, Bob (Pam) Peters; and sister-in-law, Mary Keefe and many nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Russ Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nora (Bicknese); and sisters, Serena, Arlene and Dorothy.
