Obituary

Lester Lyle Jobe, age 84 of Rochester was welcomed into paradise with Jesus on September 7, 2011. He passed away peacefully at home due to complications from diabetes.

Lester was born on July 6, 1927 near Otsico (Waseca County) to Arno and Clara Jobe.  He served in the Navy during WWII when he was just 17 years old. He later spent two years in the Army, working as a medic in a Frankfurt Germany hospital during the Korean Conflict. On October 15, 1950, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Jean Riddle, in Owatonna. They enjoyed over 60 wonderful years together.

Les worked in the Maintenance Department at St. Mary's Hospital for 33 years, retiring in 1993. He was known for his uncanny ability to fix anything. Les enjoyed family activities, fishing, camping, golfing, bowling, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He was active in the Boys Scouts, and was instrumental in both of his sons attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

Les will always be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He had a deep, abiding faith in God and held numerous positions at Redeemer Lutheran Church. He remained courageous and strong in spirit his entire life, even when faced with numerous medical challenges. The entire Jobe family extends a sincere "thank-you" to Seasons Hospice of Rochester for the high level of care Les received near the end of this life.

Lester is survived by his wife, Marge of Rochester; sons Dr. Lyle (Ingrid) of Harrisburg, PA. and Larry of Rush City, MN; brothers Norris (Lorraine) Jobe of Waterville and Harvey Jobe of Waseca; sisters Nora Schoenfeld of Waseca and Shirley (Marvin) Schwardt of Alexandria; grandsons Jason and Justin Jobe of Harrisburg, PA; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
