Lenora Moorhead (Kettwick)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lenora Moorhead on October 8 at her home outside of Rochester. Lenora was born in Buffalo Center, IA in 1935 to Harry and Hannah Kettwick. In 1962 Lenora married her beloved husband Kenneth, together they were the loving parents of; Kirk, Laurie (Terry Jacobson), Kristin (Raghav Singh), and Anne (Ravi Menon), beloved grandparents to: Karissa (Sam Peterson), Chase Jacobson (Emi), Kira Jacobson, Karsten Singh, and Hannah Singh, and cherished great-grandparents to Sogn Peterson, Harrison Peterson and Eden Jacobson. Lenora was predeceased by Ken and her siblings; Harold, Geraldine, and Marvin. She is survived by her dear sister, Elvera.
Lenora was an avid gardener. She loved to provide flowers to the Church of the Saviour and could always be relied on to provide black raspberry jam to church fundraisers. All her grandchildren have cherished memories of learning to make black raspberry jam with their grandmother.
She was proud of her educational achievements, obtaining a teaching degree from Central College in Iowa and a BA from Hope College in Michigan. She became an elementary school teacher and, early in her career she took a position working for the U.S. Army in Gelnhausen Germany. When she returned to the U.S. she worked in Rochester briefly before marrying Ken. After her children were all in school, she returned to teaching as an English as a Second Language teacher, welcoming newcomers to the Rochester community. She was beloved by her students and coworkers alike.
During her time as a teacher she took many trips with close friends. She shared her memories of those trips and a love of travelling with her children through the many slides she took during her travels. Later in life, she and Ken visited their many friends and family throughout the U.S and Germany.
Her faith was a very important part of her life. She was active in the Reformed Church Women’s Guild and she always look forward with great enthusiasm to the Triennial conferences.
A favorite memory of all her children is the nightly game of Wheel of Fortune, with the kids trying to solve the puzzle before their mother or the contestants did. It wasn’t often that one of the children won.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Rochester Community Church. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
Lenora will be greatly missed by her family and all of the people whose lives she touched.
