LaVern "Tinker"Flury, 72, of Rochester, MN, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at home.

He was born October 14, 1945 in Marion Township, MN to Ernest and Hattie (McCaleb) Flury.

Tinker graduated from John Marshall High School in 1963. He joined the Navy in 1963, serving in Vietnam War until 1966. Upon returning from Vietnam, he began a 33 year career with Rochester Public Schools. He was lead steward for the Teamsters Union at Rochester Public Schools. He served as past Commander of VFW Post 1215 and in the VFW Color Guard for many years.

Tinker married Sherry Grafe on November 27, 1987 at Marion Church of Christ in Marion, MN. The couple lived in Rochester, MN.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; his three children, Bindy Shay FluryFachin of Phoenix, AZ, Heather (Tony) Chrissis of Farmington, MN; Don (Jennifer) Finley III of Castle Rock, CO; and seven grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Drake, Isabelle, Johnathan, AJ, and Austin. He is also survived by his sisters, Ora Stoppel, and Ethelyn "Sue"(Tom) Brogan; brother, Ernie (Becky) Flury; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

The memorial service for Tinker Flury will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13th in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Chaplain Scott Chapman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Marion Cemetery.
