Larry Lee Hanson, 71, of Kasson, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in Rochester, MN. He was born on July 15, 1952 in Stromsburg, Nebraska to Elmer and Esther (Eklund) Hanson. He graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1971.

Larry was known for his love of animals, instilled in him at a young age with the help of his parents. In his younger years, he was known for his love of motorcycles and raising a little hell. Later in his life he spent his time helping to care for his mom towards the end of her life. He drove his semi all across America with his Miniature Pinscher, Fonz, who used to ride on his shoulder while he was driving like a parrot. He spent his golden years doing what he loved, spending time on the farm with his animals, spoiling them rotten.

Larry was a proud Army veteran. The joy of his life, Holly, was born on January 9, 1992, to Larry and Heather. Then on January 31, 2018, that joy doubled because Kadance, his beautiful granddaughter was born. Together, Holly and Kadance brought out the very best in him and they adored him.

He is survived by Holly and Kadance. His sister Betty (Dan) Bielen, his brother, Danny (Sandy) Hanson, and his sister-in-law Terry Hanson. Larry is also survived by his nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Esther (Eklund) Hanson and his brother Ronnie Hanson ("The Ronald".)

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2023 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
