The Funeral Mass for Kenneth R. Freeman will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Harry Jewison.  Burial will take place at a later date in St. Pauls Cemetery in Zumbrota.

Kenneth Rodney Freeman died suddenly of a stroke at St. Mary's Hospital on March 11, 2012 at age 84. Ken was born on May 30, 1927 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Almeron and Gertrude Freeman. He was a resident of Rochester, Minnesota since his childhood. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country during World War II. After the war, he began his 37 year career with the Kruse Lumber Company as a carpenter and construction superintendent. Numerous homes around the city of Rochester still attest to the mastery of his craft.

On September 22, 1949, he married Ruth Margaret Schafer. For the next 62 years, he remained a loving, devoted husband and father to four children. He greatly enjoyed pheasant hunting and weekend golf outings with his family. He and Ruth loved playing bridge in multiple bridge clubs. Lawn and garden work was always a pleasure for him. He was particularly fond of his pet cats and bird watching the year around.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Lenore. He is survived by his wife, Ruth and his brother Arden in addition to four children William, Madeleine (Lafoille), Daniel, and Mary (Smith).

Friends may call from 5:00PM – 8:00PM, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the River Park Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The family suggests memorials to the Safe Haven Pet Rescue, Camp Companion, or Paws and Claws animal shelters.
