Kenneth James Donovan, 81, of rural Rochester, Minnesota, died on Friday, January 2, 2026. He was born September 13, 1944, in Rochester to Leonard and Magdalana (Machler) Donovan. Kenneth was a graduate of John Marshall High School and spent his working life on the third-generation family farm. He began as a dairy farmer and later transitioned to beef farming. Farming was not just his work, but his way of life. He enjoyed attending auctions, searching for antique farm implements, and collecting tractors. Kenneth loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. He also enjoyed morning coffee at McDonald's with friends and taking drives through the countryside. Kenneth was known for his dry sense of humor, gentle manner, and the quiet twinkle in his eye. He was soft-spoken, laid back, hardworking, and always willing to help others. He is survived by his siblings: Jay (Carol) Donovan, Bernard Donovan, Thomas Donovan, Roger (Mary Ann) Donovan, and Mary (Kenneth) Ostrowski; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eugene; sister-in-law, Maria Donovan and nephew, Jeff Donovan. He will be remembered as a kind and steady presence, a true gentleman, and a devoted farmer.
