Kenneth Howard “Burt” Burton, 86, passed away on October 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
Kenneth was born September 18, 1940, in Rochester, Minnesota, to Alvin and Blanche (Cummings) Burton. During his high school years, Burt started working at numerous local gas and service stations. He graduated from Lourdes High School in 1957 and began working as a mechanic before he began working for Laursen Homes in 1963. Burt served in the National Guard while continuing his work at Laursen. When the company was sold in 1991, Burt went into business for himself, owning and operating Burt’s Housing Maintenance until his unofficial retirement in 2005. Burt met Dorla in 1963, and they were united in marriage on January 15, 1966, at St. Pius Catholic Church. Together, they shared 60 years of marriage.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Eagles Club, and the American Legion. Burt enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Henry and Eloise. Burt loved following them in their sports, especially at the rink, and spent a lot of time with them tinkering in his garage.
He is survived by his wife, Dorla; son, Tim (Beth) Burton of Rochester; daughter, Dawn (Steve) DeBus of Northfield; grandchildren, Henry and Eloise DeBus; sister, Margaret Walsh of Chatfield; and brother, Darrell Burton of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Blanche.
A Celebration of Burt’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2026 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. To share a special memory or condolence, please visit www.mackenfuneralhome.com
