The funeral for Kenneth R. Bee will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at Macken Funeral Home, River Park Chapel in Rochester, MN with Jerald Barnhart officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery for the immediate family.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Macken Funeral Home, River Park Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral.

Mr. Bee, 61, of Rochester, MN, formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY, died Tuesday morning (December 13, 2011) unexpectedly at his home.

Ken was born December 26, 1949 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Robert and Marjorie Bee.  As a child, his family relocated to Rochester, MN.  After graduating from Mayo High School in 1968, Ken enlisted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War with the 173 ^rd Airborne Brigade.  After his military service he returned to Rochester and worked as a mason before becoming a firefighter for the City of Rochester for many years.  In 1976, he married Susan Schmidt.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, his three sons, Charles (Jessica Sund), Richard, and Michael, as well as his daughter Catherine (Travis Kurtz).  He is also survived by his parents and his brother, Roger Bee.

Ken will be most remembered for his fierce wit, range of interests, and sense of adventure.  He greatly enjoyed volunteering his time to the American Legion Post 92 in Rochester, MN.  For that reason, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Legion in his name.
