Evers
August 2, 1928 – January 18, 2026
Kathleen "Kitty" Evers passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026. Kitty was a fiercely independent lady though surrounded herself with many friends and a big family. She is certain to have a welcoming crew at the gates of Heaven.
Kitty was born on August 2, 1928 to Leo and Florence Welp of Wabasha, Minnesota. She married the love of her life, Walt Evers, on October 16, 1948. Kitty and Walt made their home in Rochester, MN and raised five children together. Kitty worked most of her career at AMPI until she retired in 1990. After retiring, she volunteered for St. Marys auxiliary for many years. Kitty was a devout Catholic and member of St. Pius Church in Rochester, MN.
In her free time, Kitty enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bridge, reading, and going to the movies. Kitty was also an avid traveler. She went to Europe three times, visited Japan and Africa, and most of the 50 United States. Kitty made friends everywhere she went. She could always be relied on to know the "goings on".
She is survived by her children Sandra (Vincent) Ottley, Karen Powell, Cindy (Bill) Olson, Lorie (John) Spencer, and Paul (Janis) Evers; eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, six sisters and one brother.
A celebration of Kitty's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2026 at The River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12 th St. SE, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Kitty's wishes were to be cremated and she will be buried next to her husband at St. Felix Cemetery in Wabasha, MN. There will be a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Kitty prefers memorials to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Channel One, American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
