Kathleen Mary Conway, age 53 of Rochester passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Rochester Methodist Hospital following a brief battle with cancer.

Kathleen Welna was born on August 2, 1959 in Minneapolis to Jerome and M. Jeanne Welna and graduated from Waseca High School in 1977. She studied French in the Loire Valley of France. Kathy attended the University of Minnesota Minneapolis for two years, and went on to earn a degree from the Dakota County Technical College in Culinary Arts. On May 30, 1987 Kathy married Daniel Conway in Waseca, MN. Using her culinary skills, she worked at The Broadstreet Café and at RCTC. Kathy loved reading, music, genealogy, art and photography.  She was known as a "pie baker extraordinaire".

Kathy is survived by her husband Dan, two sons Nathan and Jacob of Rochester, her mother Jeanne of Waseca, two sisters Margaret (Byron) Weigelt of Atwater, MN, Theresa Welna of Owatonna, MN, brothers Mike (Kristin) Welna of Minneapolis, Paul (Tina) Welna of St. Paul and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Dr. Jerome L. Welna and her grandparents.

A memorial service for Kathy will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery Columbarium.
