The memorial service for June E. Goodrich will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Buller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Miss Goodrich, 86, of Rochester, died March 3, 2012 after a prolonged illness at Golden Living Center Whitewater in St Charles, Minnesota.
June was born June 14, 1925 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado to Charles and Mildred Smith Goodrich. June attended Denver University and Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Co., where she received her teaching certificate in 1947. She taught in Manzanola, Co. and Parker, Co. She also taught in Spring Valley after moving to Minnesota in 1954. She subsequently was employed for 30 years as a managing editor for the Mayo Clinic Proceedings until her retirement.
June liked dogs, crossword puzzles, and her home. She was a founding member of the Rochester Dog Obedience Club and was active in showing and training dogs.
Survivors include her older sister Dorothy Goodrich McKelvey of Wheat Ridge, Colorado and her niece Kay McKelvey also of Wheat Ridge. Nieces Pam Fender and Ann Britton and nephew Charles McKelvey also survive. She is also survived by her long-time friend Marie Ehrenberg of Rochester. A brother Herbert Goodrich preceded her in death.
Memorials are preferred to Paws and Claws or the Humane Society.
