Obituary

Judith "Judy" Rae Haas, 80 of Rochester, MN died Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

She was born December 30, 1942 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester to Kenneth and Esther (Wallace) Keehn. Judy worked at Lawler Cleaners while in high school. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1960. She married Bill "Red" Haas on October 6, 1962 in Rochester. The couple spent two years in Colorado Springs, where she worked at Penrose Hospital while Bill was in the army. Upon returning to Rochester, she entered nursing school to become an LPN at Mayo Clinic. After trying parachuting, she decided she'd rather fly a plane instead of jumping out of them. She was a nurse for Neuman Air Charter while she worked on her pilot's license. She then went to work for IBM, where she worked for over 25 years. Eventually, they bought their own airplane. She loved SCUBA diving in the Cayman Islands, did trap shooting on the IBM team, and she bowled for Tropic Lanes in Rochester. Judy spent summers at the cabin on the Mississippi River, fishing and riding her jet ski with her friends, the "Mississippi Mermaids". She enjoyed winters in Venice, FL, reading books on the beach and being visited by family.

She is survived by her husband Bill "Red" of Rochester, daughter Lori Haas (Tom Kline) of Oronoco, granddaughter Maranda (Nick) Oeltjen of Pine Island, and great-granddaughter Ramsey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Darlene Lovett and Janice Garner, and her brother Gene Keehn.
