Obituary

The memorial Mass for Jon C. Sivly will be held Thursday, July 21 st , 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Catholic Church, 338 11th Ave. SE, Rochester with Rev. Mark C. McNea officating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at St. Francis Catholic Church.  There will also be a celebration of Jon's life on Saturday, July 23 rd from 1:00-4:00pm at the Elks Lodge located at 1652 Highway 52 N, Rochester, MN 55901. Please bring your favorite memory or story to share.

Jon C. Sivly died on July 15 th , 2011 surrounded by his family. Jon was born in Rochester, MN on June 21 st , 1944 at St. Mary's hospital to John and Roslyn Sivly. He grew up in Rochester and graduated in 1962 from John Marshall High School where he was captain and a star of his basketball team. He also went to Rochester Junior College. He met and married his high school sweetheart, Pamalia Breault; they were united in marriage on June 19 th , 1965 at St. Pius Church in Rochester.  Jon began work at St. Mary's hospital and later joined the Mayo Clinic where he worked for 42 years. He also served in the United States Army Reserve as a Staff Sergeant. Throughout his life, Jon thrived in sports from basketball, softball, broomball, bowling, snowmobiling, and racing motorcycles and cars. Jon was born to ride since he was 14 years old. He owned and rode various motorcycles including a 1972 BMW and his 2000 Honda Goldwing where he and his wife spent many miles enjoying the scene and life on the road. They especially enjoyed the Sturgis Bike Rally for the past 15 years and were known to stay in Dead Wood, South Dakota where they were well known and met many friends. He is a life-time member of the Elks Club where he enjoyed playing pool and socializing with everyone. He was also a member of the Ronald McDonald Cruise Committee for four years where he was passionate in raising funds for kids and their families.

Jon is survived by his wife Pamalia, his oldest son John, his twin daughters SeAnn and Shawn of Seattle, his youngest son Shad (Angela) Sivly, and his twin granddaughters, Camryn and Caitlyn Sivly. He was preceded in death by his parents and triplet granddaughters.

Jon will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His sense of humor, connecting with people and willingness to always help others will continue to live through his spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Ronald McDonald House.
