Obituary

John Peter "JP" Chang of Rochester Minnesota passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2016 at the age of 49.

John was born in Abington PA on October 17, 1966. A world traveler at a young age, John lived in the United States, Europe, and Africa. A graduate of University of Maryland, College Park, work took John from the United States to Oslo, Norway, United Kingdom and finally to Minnesota. Known for his technical and sales skills John worked at Scala Digital Signage, Alpha Video and Audio most recently at Adamson Motors in Rochester.

John traveled this world with an eternal light, a moral compass equaled by few. A heart full of love and compassion. A soul full of graciousness and humbleness. Sometimes known as the geek, sometimes the nerd. He was more than just that. He was more than just one of us, he was the cool kid. He was the epitome of everything good, everything we all strive to be. He walked this earth with a humble passion to help everyone and succeeded greatly at it. A friend to everyone. A beautiful kind soul.

A lover of the music and good food, John was known for being a great cook particularly of Italian and Ethiopian foods. He was known most for his wit, humor, and his kind and generous heart. John never had an enemy and loved all. He had a special skill of making others feel loved and listened to, and genuinely cared about them.

John was a loving son to his parents and family, and long faithful to himself. He goes on this journey as a successful human being still helping others. He was an organ donor and gave the ultimate final gift before departing this world.

John is survived by his immediate family including his mother, Katherine Dress; father, Robert Chang with stepmother Christine Chang and grandfather Chang Ming Way.

He also leaves behind his beloved Paula Schneider, his sweet dog Max and his cat, Marshmallow, along with countless friends and loved ones found all around the globe.

A celebration of his life will be held at Macken Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10th 2016, from 4:30 pm-8:30 pm. A short prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family.
