John Paul Konkel, 82 of Rochester, passed away on January 3, 2021 at Speltz Assisted Living in Lewiston, MN.

John was born on January 30, 1938 in Winona, MN to Marion and Marcella (Ries) Konkel. He attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1957. He first worked in Rochester at a hardware store in Miracle Mile. He then began working at Montgomery Wards when it opened, later working for Dayton's until his retirement. In 1964, he married Sharon Marie Finley in Rochester at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Together they raised four boys. John was a longstanding member of the Rochester Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter and sportsman and loved the outdoors. He was involved in Boy Scouting and volunteered with St. Francis Troop 186. Later, he was involved with Troop 25 at Resurrection Catholic Church.

He is survived by his sister Judy Mark of Elk River; three sons, Phillip (Joan) Konkel of Sioux Falls, SD, Aaron Konkel of Rochester, PeterPaul (Sabrina) Konkel of Eyota; grandchildren Christopher, Paul, Schindhandowi, Skylar, Selena, Chanter, Chayton and Blaze.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marion and Marcella, and his son Matthew.

The Funeral Mass for John will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Peter Schuster officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rochester, MN.
