John W.
Justice
March 17, 1937 – August 12, 2017
John W. Justice, 80, of Rochester, MN and formerly of Chattanooga, TN was called home by our Heavenly Father, on Saturday August 12, 2017. His wife, Peggy, and one of his daughters, Jenny, were by his side as he peacefully fell asleep.
John was born on March 17, 1937 in West Bend, IA to Alice Elizabeth Fisher Justice and George Wilbur Justice.
John graduated from Mankato HS in 1955. He started working at IBM Rochester in 1957. He worked at IBM until retiring in July 1991. He served briefly with the Air Force in 1961. John and Nancy Kathryn Rodgers were married on December 29, 1957. John and Nancy lived in Rochester until John helped design and build their dream home on Lake Shady in Oronoco, MN. They had three children, Tami Justice (Butters), Daniel Justice, and Jenny Justice. He enjoyed sailing on Lake Shady, snowmobiling all over the countryside, and most of all, driving his sports cars. In 1989, John and Nancy moved to Chattanooga, TN for a special assignment John had between IBM and Chattanooga State Technical College. His wife, Nancy passed away in 1990. John retired in 1991. He remarried in February of 1993 to Peggy Smith Triplett Justice. He and Peggy lived in Chattanooga, TN for 15 years. They enjoyed living on the Tennessee River, riding their bikes, and traveling around the world. In 2007, John and Peggy moved back to Rochester, MN. When John had to give up his love of driving, due to his eyesight, he reluctantly handed over his precious keys to Peggy. He learned to enjoy the long drives they shared, all over North America and Canada, as a passenger.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Janet Papke; his brother-in-law, Howard Papke; his first wife, Nancy; and his son, Daniel. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughters, Tami Butters (Paul), Jenny Justice; his step-children, Ed Triplett (Diana), and Christina Chadwick (Rusty); seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial service for John will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Rader. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery.
