John V. Clark, 92, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2012 at Seasons Hospice surrounded by his family. The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice in assisting with John's final days.
He was born in Winona County on July 10, 1919, to Marie (Fix) and Vern Clark. He graduated from St. Charles High School in St. Charles, MN. After working at the Kahler Hospital as an orderly, John joined Mayo Clinic as an X-Ray Technician. He was one of the first to take part in the x-ray program at the University of Minnesota in 1959. Over the past years he served as District 5 President; State Convention Chairman; State President and Executive Board Member of the Minnesota Society of X-Ray Technologists. John retired in 1984 after 40 years at Mayo Clinic.
John had many varied interests but mostly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved spending time on his friend's ranch in Wyoming.
John was united in marriage to Sylvia (Vandeputte) on February 26, 1952 in Marshall, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife of 59 years; six children, Virginia (Peter) Campbell of Duluth, Kevin Clark and Dennis Clark of Rochester, Brad (Richele) of White Bear Lake, MN, Lori (Marlin) Keck of Rochester, and Kathy (Jeff) Martinson of Rochester; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Nicholas, Sam, Katelyn, Aaron, Abby, Michael, Stacy, and Carrie; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo and Norman; and daughter-in-law, Vicki.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 18 th at 10:30AM at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Gerald Mahon officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17 th from 5:00-8:00PM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in memory of John's life to Seasons Hospice; or to Mayo Clinic Poverello Fund, 200 1 st Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
