The funeral for John A. Boelter will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, officiated by Rev. Michael Wuehler.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Preston.  Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 20th at the River Park Chapel of Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Mr. Boelter, age 68, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.  He was born John Albert Boelter January 19, 1944 in Faribault and grew up in Preston where he graduated from high school.  He married Judy Struthers Lehman and the couple were later divorced. He served in the Army in mid-Sixties. John worked for the Mayo Clinic for thirty-two years and retired thirteen years ago. He enjoyed attending area county fairs along with the Minnesota State Fair.

He also enjoyed live theater, gospel music and baseball, including both the Rochester Honkers and Minnesota Twins.

John is survived by two daughters and a son: Kelly (Troy) Hager of St. Francis, Kristine Boelter of Rochester and Michael Boelter of St.Peter.  Also surviving is his companion, Delores Johnson and her children Todd (Brenda) Johnson of Chatfield, Terry (Barb) Johnson of Kasson and Tracy Liedl of Rochester.

He was known as "Grandpa John" to Delores' children and also to his four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
