Jean Marie Schmiedeberg, 77 of Rochester, MN died Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at home.

Jean was born on August 13, 1948 in Winona, MN to Ivan and Lorraine (Virnig) Putzier. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1967. On September 20, 1969 she married Donald R Schmiedeberg in Rochester, MN. Together, the couple made Rochester their home. Jean worked for Mayo Clinic for 37 years before retiring in 2014.

Jean loved to read, put puzzles together, do all kinds of crafts, collect trinkets and spend time with her family, friends, and beloved dog, Daisy. Her grandsons were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her daughters, Angie of Rochester and Mary (Wade) Uhlir of Cottage Grove, MN; three grandsons, Shaun, Mathew and Lucas Uhlir; sisters Judith (Joseph) Judy, Margaret Putzier and Teresa (Timothy) Lang and brother Vincent (Wanetta) Putzier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until a luncheon is served at 12:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester.
