Jean M.
Conway
February 1, 1950 – December 20, 2025
Jean Monica Conway, 75, of Rochester, MN died on December 20, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus.
Jean was born February 1, 1950, in Winona, MN, 5 minutes before her twin sister Jane (she frequently reminded Jane that she was the oldest), to Joseph and Monica (Jewison) Conway. She was a graduate of Winona Cotter High School. She married Denny Schrandt in 1971 and later divorced. She lived most of her life in Winona, MN before moving to Rochester 15 years ago.
She is survived by her children Sarah (Jeff) Schaller, Kady (Mark) Cada, Jessy (Amy) Conners, and Jake Schrandt; 10 grandchildren (Jada, Eric, Issak, Haylee, Ashlee, Maya, Benjamin, Leo, Emma, & Evan); siblings Phillip Conway, Kathleen Robertson, Linda Hull, Jane (Dave) Busch, and Michael (Lisa) Conway; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Danni Toth, brother Larry Conway, and sister Sheila Conway.
Jean found happiness with a full house. After raising her own children, Jean was a foster parent to over 20 teenagers. She loved to visit over a cup of Folgers and a cigarette with her friends and family, and her door was always open for anyone who wanted to stop by (literally, she never locked her house or her car). Jean was an animal lover with special devotion to her cats Stan and Tigger who were permanent fixtures on her lap. In various phases of her life, she could be found scrapbooking, crafting, spending time on the river, playing bridge or 500, doing puzzles, playing Scrabble, repainting her walls, reading, or watching Law & Order and the Food Network.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday December 28, 2025, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with visitation starting at 10:00am.
Memorial gifts may be directed to The Bond Between animal rescue ( https://www.thebondbetween.org/donate ) or in whatever way you see fit in memory of Jean.
