Janice Arlene Hartwich, age 92, of Rochester died Friday, September 2, 2022 at her home, surrounded by family.

Janice was born November 10, 1929 in Wykoff, MN, the daughter of Ernest and Thera (Evans) Schroeder. She graduated from high school in 1947. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Rochester Utilities Building, and for an insurance company in Colorado Springs. In 1952, she and her cousin Gloria moved to Colorado Springs. There she met her husband, Leonard "Burt" Hartwich. The couple was united in marriage February 27, 1953 at Trinity Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. They shared 64 years of marriage. Janice was a very active member of Homestead Church, and belonged to the Ladies Aid and Choir.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burt; brother, Donald "Butch" Schoeder.

Janice is survived by her cousins: Donna Pivonka, Dawn Crowson, Scott (Patty) Baker all of Rochester, Debbie (Dave) Long of Chatfield, MN, Glenda Olsen of Spring Valley, MN, and Gloria of Colorado Springs, CO.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Meadow Lakes and Season's Hospice. Memorials are preferred to Meadow Lakes or Season's Hospice.

The memorial service will be Thursday, September 8, at 11:00AM in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Aaron Justice. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Chatfield Cemetery.
