Janet "Jan" McCoy passed away Thursday, February 8th, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Janet was born February 22, 1935 in Rochester, MN to Joseph E. and Edith (Gunderson) Manahan. She attended Rochester High School and later Lourdes High School where she graduated in 1953.  On February 18th, 1956, Janet married the love of her life, Harold McCoy at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester. Together they raised five children.  Jan first worked at the telephone company, and then worked in the lab at Mayo Clinic for twenty years.  Upon retirement, Jan enjoyed golfing and traveling with Harold. She also volunteered at Mayo Clinic for over 20 years.

Jan loved her children and grandchildren so very much. She always attended their games, concerts, and activities. She was also famous for planning family gatherings so she could have everyone all together.  Being an avid sports fan, Jan especially loved the MN Vikings. She also loved the MN Twins where she would attend home opener with her family every year.  Jan had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. She was a dear friend to many and truly enjoyed her lunches and coffee with "the girls".

Janet is survived by her husband, Harold, of 68 years; her son Mark (Julie) of Rochester; daughters, Michelle McCoy of Savage, MN, Melinda Highet of Rochester, and MaryJo McCoy of Rochester; seven grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.  Janet is preceded in death by her son, Michael, brother Gerald Manahan, and her parents.

The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 15th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ovarian Cancer Research or Season's Hospice.
