The memorial service for Jane Louise Brungard Hansmeier will be at 11:00 am Thursday,  June 8, 2017 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hansmeier, 92, of Rochester, died June 5, 2017 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Jane was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 18, 1924 to Jacob and Byrdie Gearhart Brungard.

On September 9, 1950, Jane married Robert (Bud) Hansmeier in Minneapolis. Jane graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis  and attended the University of Minnesota in the early 60s. She was founder of the YMCA bird watchers that later become the Zumbrota Valley Audubon Society. In the mid 60s, she was chairman of the YMCA World Fellowship Committee and member of the board of directors. In the early 80s, Jane worked for Bachman's in Rochester as a supervisor in the gift and floral department. In her later years, she was a resident of Arbor Terrace Apartments.

Survivors include her four children, John (Robyn) Hansmeier of Rochester, Julie (Lee) Sassor-Knight of Monmouth, Oregon, Kay Roshon of Zumbrota, and Jan (Tracy) Beck of Eugene, Oregon; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  Jane is also survived by her brother, Robert Brungard, of Bloomington, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Robert (Bud) Hansmeier.

The family prefers memorials to Seasons Hospice or the Nature Conservancy.
