James Daniel Collett, 80, of Rochester died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 after a 2 year battle with ALS and cancer. He was born October 13, 1932 to Dwight and Esther (Ingram) Collett in Stewartville. He married Virginia Hanson in Rochester on June 29, 1955. He worked as a printer until his retirement. After that he worked in recycling.
He was an elder in the Zumbro Valley Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Jim worked as a hospital visitation Chaplin for many years. He enjoyed talking to people on any subject, but especially his faith and future hope. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and working on cars.
He is survived by Virginia, his wife of 58 years. Four children, Edee (Doug) Cranston, John Collett, Roger (Herminia) Collett and Dean Collett. Eleven grandchildren, Jenna (Russ) Helfritz, Daniel Collett, Sara Collett, Aaron (Genevieve) Collett, Jessie (Alex) Hughes, Josue (Rebecca) Ruiz, Michel (Tiffany) Ramirez, Brian Ramirez, Nicholas (Amanda) Collett, Andrew Collett, Amy (Michael) Lacine. Eight great grandchildren, Taleon Sok, Torrance Sok, Kaden Helfritz, Kamryn Helfritz, Bethany Collett, Ruthie Collett, Andrea Collett, and Persia Ramirez. Three brothers, Ronald Collett, Dwight Collett, and David Collett. And many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Martha Gardner and his parents.
