Jack L. Smith, age 74, passed away on April 7, 2014 at his home in Rochester, with his wife and family by his side.
Jack was born on December 19, 1939 in Chester, MN to Roy and Leona Smith. He graduated from John Marshall High School. On July 25, 1981 he married Karen Marquardt (Schlief) at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester. Jack owned and operated J&J Upholstery in Rochester for over 30 years. He loved racing, and was a stock car driver for 25 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his loyal dog Kirby. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and camping.
He is survived by his wife Karen, his children Grant Marquardt (Dawn) of Rochester, Renae Pederson (Rich) of Oak Creek, WI, Randy Marquardt (Andrea) of San Antonio, TX, Jacklyn Bedtke (Mike) of Dover two sisters Joanne Blazing of Viola, Debbie Smith of Rochester, brothers Marvin Smith (Kathy) of Rochester, Randy Smith (Tammy) of Rochester, Rick Smith of IA, grandchildren Sydney and Payton Pelzel of TX, Ashley, Corey, and Kaley of Oak Creek, WI, Courtney Marquardt and Joshua Watson of Rochester, Sam and Levi of TX, Mikey and Jackson of Dover, and a great grandson, Zachary Siewart of Rochester.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, a son Bob, and a daughter Leanne.
A funeral service for Jack will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Wuehler officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday April 9, 2014 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Rochester.
