Howard Heins passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Madonna Towers in Rochester. He and his wife, Marian, of 68 years farmed and owned Registered Holstein cattle. He was born on March 27, 1927 near Pine Island. Howard served in the Army in 1945. He lived just North of Rochester for 37 years where you currently find Essex Park. They moved to a farm near Oronoco in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Marian; four children, Marie (Dennis) Brom, Dan (Rosemary) Heins, Tim Heins, and Carol (Pete) Pyfferoen. He has six grandchildren, Jennifer Hudson, Lisa Heins, Karyn Hemphill, Amy Heins, Tom Heins, and Jeff Heins. He also has six great-grandchildren, Shantell Heins, Tommy Heins, Katie Hudson, Hanna Hudson, Miles Hemphill, and Logan Hemphill. Howard was also survived by two sisters, Allene Henke and Corinne Liebenow.
After many years of farming, Howard enjoyed Sudoku and spent many hours riding his John Deere Lawnmower in the sunshine. He enjoyed telling stories and spending time with his family, cousins, neighbors, and many friends around the state.
His life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 12:30PM with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a visitation on Thursday evening in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 5PM to 8PM. Luncheon will be served after the service. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 92.
