Herbert M Erickson III of Rochester passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, with his family by his side.

Herbert was born on August 7, 1946, to Herbert M Erickson, Jr and Joan Erickson, in Brainerd, MN. In 1963 Herb and his family moved to Yorktown Heights, NY where he attended Lakeland High School until graduating in 1964. That same year he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served at several bases in the U.S. until deployment to Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Viet Nam. Upon discharge at the rank of Sergeant, he returned to Rochester, MN in 1968. In February 1970 he joined IBM in the Distribution and Manufacturing area. During his 30 years with IBM, he held several positions: MES Inspector, Administrative Analyzer and Appraiser. He enjoyed his work and was fortunate to work with his counter parts in Italy and Guadalajara, Mexico.

Herb and his wife Dorothy (Grossbach) were married in 1973. They spent their 53 years of marriage raising four Golden Retrievers. During the autumn color season, he enjoyed taking his dogs on long walks and car rides.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents Joan and Herbert Erickson, brother Greg, and brothers-in-laws Larry Schmidt and Arthur Butz. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, sisters Sandra (Arthur) Butz of St. Cloud, Pamela (Larry) Schmidt of Rochester, brother Mark of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2026, in River Park Reception Hall at Macken Funeral Home.
