Helen Cecelia Wassel, age 82, died peacefully Sunday, January 4, 2015 at her home.

The funeral service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Thursday, January 8 ^th at 11:00 AM with Reverend James Heining officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at Redeemer Lutheran.  Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, in Waltham, after the funeral service.

Helen was born on January 15, 1932 in Udolpho Township, Mower County, Minnesota to Ernest and Elsie (Schieck) Schulz.  Helen graduated from Austin High School in 1949. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital as an EEG Technician before marrying John (Jack) Wassel on October 26, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waltham. She and Jack spent many years in New Jersey and then Miami, Florida. After Jack's death Helen moved back to Rochester to be near family.

Survivors include a sister Arlene (Richard) Greenthaner, Killeen, TX. and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great- great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Victor Schulz, sister Lorraine Fahrman, brother-in- law Lowell Fahrman, and sister-in law Irene Schulz.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she served in many capacities. She was an avid traveler, enjoyed embroidery, and baking. Her family was a priority and the recipients of fresh baked goods and home cooked meals. She will be remembered for her devotion to living her life with Faith in Jesus Christ as her foundation.
