Helen (Taylor, Hedstrom) Hanson, 93, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Health Care in Wabasha, MN. On Thursday, January 5, 2017.

Born on October 7, 1923, to Lawrence & Pearl Taylor in Pomeroy, Iowa, Helen was the 6 ^th of 7 children.   She had two children from her marriage to Mainard Hedstrom, Richard Hedstrom, Reads Landing, MN, & Joanne Heaven, Lynden, WA.

Helen married Leonard Hanson on January 19, 1973, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They enjoyed many years together between their homes in Pine River, MN and Brownsville, Texas, until finally settling in Rochester.   In addition to enjoying time w/friends & neighbors, Helen loved to fish, seek out garage sales, and sew.  She pieced together many beautiful quilts which ended up being prized possessions of her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Mary) Hedstrom of Reads Landing, MN, & Joanne (Paul) Heaven of Lynden, WA.; grandchildren, Rich (FeiFei) Hedstrom of Shanghai, China; Charles (Kadee) Hedstrom of Rosemount, MN.& Emily (Josh Haney) Fitting of Bellingham, WA; great grandchildren, Cameron & Nicole Hedstrom; sisters; Carrie Owens of Boone, Iowa & Margaret Feld of Rockwell City, IA.   Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard & two brothers & two sisters.

Friends may call one hour before the 11:30 am service on Wednesday, January 18, at the Bear Creek Lutheran Church, Grand Meadow, Mn.  Burial will be in Bear Creek Lutheran Cemetery.   Macken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com
