Helen Theresa Aarsvold, 92 of Rochester died on September 13, 2020 at Cottagewood Senior Campus.

Helen Theresa Sullivan was born on October 18, 1927 to William and Catherine (O'Neill) Sullivan in Rochester, MN. Helen and Pete Aarsvold were married and later divorced. That marriage was blessed with five children. Helen worked at Mayo Clinic for twenty years. After her retirement, she was a nanny for many families in the Rochester area. She was an active and proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Tradition 3, for twenty-five years, where she made many friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and always was a great hostess who was very happy to entertain family and friends.

Helen loved adventure and went sky diving at age 86! Also, she liked to tell stories of river rafting on the Colorado River, and memorable trips to Hawaii.

She is survived by her children Jerry (Freda) Aarsvold of Simpson, MN, Bill Aarsvold of Ham Lake, MN, Judy (Bud) Roy of Zimmerman, MN, Brenda (John) O'Riordan of Fruita, CO, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, her sisters Lou Schroeder of Brainerd, MN, and Kay Merritt of Grand Prairie, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, a sister, and a son.

A private memorial service for Helen will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be buried in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Simpson, MN.

A big "thank-you" is extended to her caregivers at Cottagewood, and the staff of Heartland Hospice.
