Harold Archie Watson

The funeral Mass for Harold A. Watson will be 11:00am Wednesday November 27 ^th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Watson, 90, of Eagan, MN a former longtime resident of Rochester, died Friday, November 22, 2013.

Harold was born on August 28, 1923 in Rochester to Archie and Nellie (Hays) Watson. He married Viola Sherry at St. John's Catholic Church in Rochester on October 24, 1941.  Mrs. Watson died July 13, 1991.

Harold served in the Army as a Surgical Tech with the Medical Detachment in the Pacific Theater from April 1942 until his honorable discharge in January 1946. Upon discharge, Harold returned home to Rochester.  He and his wife Viola owned and operated San-I Trucking, which they later sold to Browning Ferris Industries. Harold continued to manage the operation along with his wife until retirement and their move to Las Vegas, NV in 1983.

Harold returned to Minnesota following his wife's death.  He was an avid moviegoer.  He adored and was adored by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who so looked forward to their weekly dinners out together.

Survivors include his three daughters, Carol (Tom) Heinl of St Paul, Diane Billman of Eagan, Dawn (Kevin) Stensrud of Lakeville, MN; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and one sister. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Viola, two sisters and one brother.
