Obituary

Harold Lowell Curry (September 8th, 1932 to December 20th, 2025)

Harold, better known as "Short" Curry, was born on September 8th 1932 to Charles and Louella "Decker" Curry in Predmore, Minnesota. He was one of 4 children, 2 brothers (Robert and Hugh) and one sister (Elaine).

Short proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korea conflict. He was stationed in Germany, where he operated an oxygen plant. He also spent time in France and studied diesel mechanics.

In October of 1954 he married Laverne Finley. Together they had 9 children: Patty, Edwin, Donald, Robert, Richard, John, Russell, Barb, and Marie. They also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

One thing he treasured in life was time spent coaching his boys boxing and traveling the country to compete in boxing matches. The Curry boys were very successful boxers! He also enjoyed raising dogs and running them in field trials. He talked about a dog named Ginger to his last day. She was the fastest dog ever and he was once offered $5,000 for her.

Short was an avid 500 player, often going into marathon card games. He was a lover of baseball, football, and tomato gardening. He had the gift of gab, always had a story or joke to tell, and made friends wherever he went.

Laverne passed away December 2, 2002. A few years later, Short reconnected with Genevieve Threinen, who he knew before his army time. They were wed for 7 years until they were divorced due to health reasons.

In his later years, Short lived with his grandson in Pleasant Grove. Most recently he has resided at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, 2 wives, 3 children, and a great grandchild. He leaves behind 6 children, 10 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

A service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove, MN.

Short's family wants to thank the staff of Chosen Valley Care Center and Season's Hospice. Above all we thank our Father in heaven for the blessing this man was to us all.
