Obituary

Harlan Dale "Bud" Swee - Rochester

Harlan "Bud" Swee, 93, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN.

Bud was born August 1, 1932, in Dennison, MN, to Albert and Agnetta Swee. They eventually moved to the family farm in Zumbrota. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. On December 10, 1955, Bud married Evelyn A. Erickson and the couple moved to Rochester where they raised seven children. They were later divorced.

Bud was a dedicated and skilled carpenter and craftsman. He built and remodeled several homes in and around Rochester over his many years of professional workmanship. Many family members, relatives and friends have been fortunate enough to have their homes built or remodeled by Bud. Many times one or more of his sons would assist. Others didn't hesitate to ask for his help because of his easy-going nature. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke or quip to share.

Bud is survived by four of his children, LeAnn (Bob) Kapinos, Thomas Swee, Lisa (Steve) Atkinson, Loy (Garret) Ashton, and daughter-in-law, Julie Swee, all of Rochester. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lenny (Emily) Hoisington, Tyler Swee, Calvin (Beth) Swee, Katie Swee, Coleton Swee, Brayden Swee, Delaney Atkinson, Chloe Atkinson, two step-grandchildren, Morgan Ashton and Gabby Ashton, and six great-grandchildren, Henry Hoisington, Theo Hoisington, Aidan Swee, Parker Swee, Hope Swee, and Kylie Swee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, three sons, Donald Swee, Alan Swee, and Mark Swee, daughter-in-law, Kelly Swee, daughter-in-law, Ann Swee, and one great-grandson, Donaven Swee.
