Greg Gahnstrom 68, died at St. Marys Hospital early on Friday, November 17, 2017.

Greg was born February 19, 1949, to Elinor and Leroy Gahnstrom in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a graduate of Kennedy High School in Bloomington. He graduated from the University of MN with a degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies. On December 1, 1973, he married Dani Peterson.  Greg's career was in the field of Chemical Dependency treatment and counseling.  For more than 30 years he dedicated himself to teaching and demonstrating how to achieve and maintain sobriety, one day at a time.  Greg was a friend of Bill W.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dani; daughter, Linde (Gahnstrom) Gove and her husband, Chris Gove all of Rochester; and his sister, Jennifer, of Minneapolis, MN.

Our family extends its gratitude to the caring professionals of the Mayo Clinic Hospice Program, Palliative Care, Family Medicine, and Chaplain Services.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, December 1, 2017 in the River Park Chapel  at Macken Funeral Home. This date would have marked Greg's 44th wedding anniversary.
