Gordon “Jim” Read, 86, of Rochester, MN passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, in his home with his wife Dorothy by his side.

Jim was born on October 18, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from Austin High. Following high school, Jim served in the Navy for 3 years. After he was honorably discharged, Jim worked for IBM for over 40 years until retirement. In 1973 Jim was united in marriage to Dorothy.

Jim enjoyed creating art and showing his work in several art galleries in Rochester. He also enjoyed construction projects including building their first home.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughters Candace (Bob) & Stacy (Dennis), grandchildren LaToshia, Donovan, Jackson, and Grace; brothers Larry & David (Vicki); 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, a son, Scott, a sister-in-law Evie, and a nephew Derek.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 at The River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
